How to download and play Ragnarok: The New World on PC

Use the official Steam client when your PC meets the requirements. Choose an Android emulator only when you specifically need the mobile build or Steam is not practical on your machine.

Updated August 4, 202610-minute setupWindows and emulator options

There are now two sensible PC routes: the official Steam version and the Android version inside an emulator. They reach the same game, but they are not interchangeable from a setup and troubleshooting standpoint.

Which PC version should you use?

OptionBest forMain drawback
Steam clientMost Windows players, cleaner controls, fewer compatibility layers, official PC distributionHigher published RAM and storage requirements
Android emulatorPlayers who need the mobile app, mobile checkout, keymapping, or multi-device familiarityVirtualization, graphics-driver, and emulator-specific problems
Cloud Android deviceTemporary access from weak hardware or a device with very little storageLatency, recurring fees, data use, and account-security concerns
Quick recommendation: Install the Steam version first on a modern Windows PC. Use the emulator route only when you have a clear reason, not because an emulator page promises better performance on every machine.

Method 1: Install the official Steam version

Open the correct Steam listing.

Search Steam for “Ragnarok: The New World.” Confirm that both the developer and publisher are listed as Gravity Game Vision Limited. Similar Ragnarok names belong to different games.

Check available storage before installing.

The Steam listing publishes 30 GB of available storage. Leave extra headroom for the installer, patches, temporary files, and future content.

Install to an SSD when possible.

An SSD will not increase your internet speed, but it can reduce loading delays and asset streaming stalls compared with an older mechanical drive.

Sign in with the account already bound on mobile.

Do not create a second account by accident. Match the login method, region, and server used by your existing character.

Start with conservative graphics settings.

Use 60 FPS and medium settings for the first session. Raise resolution, shadows, and frame rate one at a time after confirming stable temperatures and memory use.

Published Steam requirements

The Steam store currently lists 12 GB RAM and 30 GB storage as minimum values, with 16 GB RAM recommended. CPU and GPU fields may be incomplete, so treat those published numbers as a baseline rather than a full compatibility guarantee.

Method 2: Install the Android version through an emulator

BlueStacks and LDPlayer both publish installation pages for Ragnarok: The New World. The basic process is the same, regardless of which reputable emulator you choose.

Download the emulator from its official website.

Avoid repacked installers, “portable” copies, and download mirrors. Emulator installers are frequently impersonated by adware and credential-stealing downloads.

Enable hardware virtualization.

Turn on Intel VT-x or AMD-V in BIOS/UEFI when it is disabled. Virtualization usually makes a larger difference than randomly increasing every emulator setting.

Create a 64-bit Android instance.

Use a current 64-bit Android image. Allocate four CPU cores and 4–6 GB RAM only when your PC has enough resources left for Windows.

Install from Google Play.

Sign in to the Play Store, search for the game, and verify that Gravity Game Vision is shown as the developer. The Android package name is another useful check when troubleshooting the wrong regional build.

Bind controls after the tutorial.

Map movement, primary attacks, dodge, and the most-used skills first. Avoid covering menus with too many keys before you know which buttons remain fixed across game modes.

Account sync checklist

  • Open the mobile game and confirm the account is linked before uninstalling anything.
  • Record the server name and character name exactly.
  • Use the same sign-in method on PC; a different Google, Apple, email, or launcher login can create a fresh account.
  • Do not hand a password or one-time code to a top-up seller, emulator technician, or “account recovery” page.
  • Test the PC login before removing the working mobile installation.

Recommended first-session settings

SettingStarting pointChange it when…
Frame rate60 FPSThe game is stable and your CPU/GPU temperatures remain reasonable
Resolution1080p or emulator 1920×1080Text is too small or the GPU cannot hold a stable frame rate

Emulator CPU4 coresYour PC has more than four physical/logical cores available and Windows remains responsive
Emulator RAM4–6 GBYour system has at least 12–16 GB total RAM

Common PC installation problems

The character is missing

This is usually an account, region, or server mismatch rather than deleted progress. Compare the sign-in method and server with the original device before contacting support.

Black screen or immediate crash

Update the graphics driver, restart Windows, disable conflicting overlays, and test DirectX versus Vulkan/OpenGL in the emulator. On Steam, verify the game files before reinstalling the whole client.

The emulator says virtualization is disabled

Enable VT-x or AMD-V in BIOS/UEFI. Windows virtualization features can also affect some emulator engines, so follow the emulator vendor’s current Hyper-V instructions rather than using old registry tweaks.

High FPS option does not stay enabled

Raise the emulator frame-rate limit first, restart the emulator, and then set the in-game frame rate. If the option keeps resetting, lower resolution or graphics quality and test again.

Do not use macros for unattended gameplay unless the game’s current rules clearly permit it. An emulator offering a macro feature does not mean the publisher allows automated farming, synchronized multi-account play, or scripted inputs.

Frequently asked questions

Is there an official PC version of Ragnarok: The New World?

Yes. The game has an official Steam release from Gravity Game Vision Limited. Use the publisher and developer names on the Steam listing to avoid similarly named Ragnarok titles.

Can I use the same character on mobile and PC?

The game advertises cross-device progress, but you must sign in with the same linked game account and choose the same region and server. Confirm the account binding on mobile before reinstalling or changing devices.

Is Steam better than an emulator?

Steam is the cleaner choice for a supported Windows PC. An emulator is useful when you need the Android build, mobile payment flow, or a lower-spec fallback, but it adds another software layer and more troubleshooting.

How much storage should I keep free?

The Steam listing states 30 GB of available storage. Keep additional free space for extraction, patches, shader caches, screenshots, and future updates rather than filling the drive to its limit.
